Lanzar AQR84W Bluetooth Marine Digital Media Receiver Stereo Radio, Marine Wire Antenna w/ Dual 6.5" Waterproof Marine Speakers
Good but not great.
Good sound quality but it won't connect to cellphone call audio via bluetooth which is what I was buying it for. It does well when connected to the aux output of the phone.
Best Pair of Headphones for the Insane Low Price!
Absolutely excellent, audio is extremely clear and vibrant, as the planar drivers do their job nicely. Coming from Dynamic headphones to Planar has been a bit of a jump, but so far I've only heard improvements to the sound. The only other headphones I've used around this price range was the Audio-Technica ATH-ADG1X headset, but this sounds so much better. I have a Sennheiser Mixamp that pushes the sound quite well, but keep in mind that you may need a reasonable DAC/Amp to ensure it gets the necessary power. However, it seems to not require too much power, so you should be quite good no matter what, but a nice one would definitely help. The headband is very comfortable for me, however I do know some people dislike it, but I've come from some pretty uncomfortable headphones across the park, so perhaps I've grown accustom. It's still very much the most comfortable headphones I've worn and I believe some individuals are just overly picky in this case. If you'd like, their is always the ZMF pilot pad lambskin to replace it, but I feel it's unnecessary at this point. To ensure proper tilt of drivers and correct acoustics, the ear pads have a asymmetrical shape. They are thicker on the back of a head and gets narrower towards cheekbones. High density memory foam ensures comfort during listening sessions, to which I've enjoyed very much. The wood surrounding the drivers are a nice touch, but in the past have been known to crack. This has been relatively fixed in the V2 of these, which use mono plugs for the drivers if you want to identify the versions. The wood on mine was quite good, with a small nick lifting the wood a mm on the edge, but I don't believe it will affect the build quality in terms of turning into a crack, time will tell, but it's not noticeable in the slightest. Regardless, Monoprice back their Monolith headphones with a 5 year warranty, so you always have that to fall back on. On a final note, I've found the bass to be a little less defined in terms of oomph, but I've read the closed-back versions of these the M1060c improves on that a bit with a slightly more narrow soundstage, as well as changing how the wood is implemented in the headset. Since I don't have the closed-back version, I can't say definitively how they differ. Overall, it's a wonderful pair of headphones and at the price you can't beat the quality. The step up past this point would probably be the Audeze LCD-2, which these are generally a clone of, but the price goes up to almost $1000. I'm very satisfied with my purchase so far!
