Porch & Den Humes Shoe Bench with Storage

This is a perfect fit for our narrow entrance hallway, and the fabric seat has a nice look and feel. I was a little worried when the box arrived with a tear in the middle, but the contents were well packaged, and there was no damage. The construction seems nice and sturdy. The only part that seems a little weak is the inside storage compartment base - I wouldn't put anything too heavy in there. As to assembly, the instructions are not terribly detailed: one page illustrates the completed bench, the next is a parts list, and the last page is a single exploded-view illustration of how all the parts fit together. Not bad, but it would have been nice to have been told what order to assemble the pieces in. Still, it took me less than 30 minutes to assemble by myself, so it didn't end up being a problem. Just start with one side, and the bottom shelf, and work upwards first. Don't add the other side until the rails and storage shelf are installed, or it will be too tight to slide them into their slots. You have to look really closely to find the small pilot holes that are drilled in for the bracket that holds the lid up... I nearly missed them. All in all, I'm very pleased with this purchase, and am happy with the value. Now I just need to train the kids to actually use the thing instead of dropping their sand-filled shoes throughout the house!

I love this bench. It is very sturdy and the espresso finish is very nice. The top is well padded - and I like the look of the fabric (thought of recovering before I received it). So cute and convenient.

We have a “drop zone” between our garage and kitchen. This bench in white looks terrific, is great for my 210 lb husband for putting on his shoes. Storage is very convenient. Great for the price. Not cheap looking at all.

The bench was easy to put together with no instructions. It is very sturdy with tan/brown fabric and a deep storage bin. Well worth the money.

The bench is perfect for my foyer area. Very functional in that space! Love that you can have a place to sit when putting on/taking off your shoes and then can stow them away on the bottom shelf so they aren't an eyesore. Also looks just like the pic and great sturdy quality.

This bench is exactly what I had in mind, although my husband’s work boots will not fit on shoe shelf. The size, under seat storage and color are all very nice. It seems sturdy and for the price I am happy with it!

Nice shoe bench, perfect size for a small entrance. I liked the storage for small things that you always want to keep close before going out. I'm still not sure the white color was the right decision for a shoe bench :)

I love this bench. It arrived quickly and was in good shape. It was easy to put together. It took us about a half hour, but my husband is really good at putting things together. It is sturdy. The cushion top is not white, but a beautiful coffee linen color, with a linen texture.

This handy small bench is just right for sitting down to put on your shoes, but it is small enough to not intrude in the space. The only negative for me, I was not a fan of the dark linen-look fabric covering the seat. I plan to re-cover it with the same fabric I am using on accent pillows in the room.

This is a very sturdy and attractive bench, which is perfect for a small entryway. The handy storage area allows you to place items such as an umbrella, dog leash, sunglasses, etc. close to your entrance. It is just what we needed.

This was one of the best buy. It's functional, great looking in my foyer w/o overwhelming presence. I am Asian and that's where my guests park their shoes when entering my house. Getting a lot of complements.

I love the bench! We purchased it for our foyer! A little smaller than expected but it’s sturdy and functional.

We needed something simple and inexpensive for our mud room. This product works fine. Recommend two people help in the assembly process.

This bench is so perfect. I really love it. It fits many things in it. I put things in it that is hidden. It’s very comfortable and very easy to use. It’s also very sturdy and pretty to look at.

This bench is perfect! It was simple to put together and didn't take long at all. It's very sturdy and adds elegance to your entryway. The top folds up and you can easily fit another row of shoes inside. The storage will also be nice for hats, gloves, umbrellas, etc when unfavorable weather hits. I would definitely recommend this product!

Nice little bench! Some marks on wood, but none that show. Directions for putting together...horrible!

Lid/hinge attachment very WEAK. There is only one flimsy little hinge inside the lid in the left corner. I put the lid up one day, let go, and the whole top kept going because the hinge & its tiny screw, pulled out of the wood. The whole length of that wood piece then twisted and broke away. A piece of wood on the outside then broke off. No way to fix it now. I'm wondering if a longer screw was used on the hinge if it would have helped. I kind of doubt it, though. The lid was just too heavy for the one hinge. Maybe if you added another hinge on the right? It would probably be fine if when you lift the lid, you just hold onto it and don't rely on the hinge to hold the lid open (like it's supposed to). The other problem I have with this bench is the padding on top. We were using it as a coffee table/ottoman and in 8 months (daily use), you can now feel the board digging into your calf, as the padding along that edge is basically smashed and gone. The gold/brass hinges are a bit tacky as well. I ended up painting mine black.

I’ve been looking for a shoe bench to add in front of my door, and I’m glad I was able to find this.. for the price the item seems durable...overall nice piece..
