This is my 2nd of this series. I love Safavieh products, great quality and o.com has them at a steal of a deal compared to other retailers. This is a dhurrie, so its a coarse flat rug, it's not at all plush or soft on the feet. It's not for someone looking for a traditional rug. It's very striking and like the other safavieh dhurrie I bought from o.com it commands a lot of attention. Every home I've used it in the client has ended up going to o.com and buying one. If you're a dhurrie person this is a great rug - I also highly recommend the other wool dhurries in this series, especially the brown one bordered in white. Looks great.
First of all, this is a flatweave rug. It's not meant to be soft or luxuriant underfoot. It's knobbly and a little scratchy, so you're not going to be comfortable lying on it. I was prepared for that. On the bright side, because it's a flatweave rug, it is spill-resistant; liquids tend to bead up rather than soaking in (as they would on a more traditional wool rug). This is great if, like me, you have a bad habit of knocking over water-glasses and beer bottles. :) I ordered this rug for my living room, to replace a battle-scarred 8 x 11 dark-red Oriental rug. I'm really happy with it! It arrived rolled up into an 8-foot tube, in two layers of plastic, tied with pieces of twine. It relaxed and completely uncurled within a couple days of putting it down, and I'm not having any issues with corners sticking up. The color is a brighter in person than on my monitor, but I'm fine with it. It's a pleasant, fresh color and really makes my living room feel brighter and more open. It doesn't have quite the same sound-absorbing properties as a similarly sized non-flatweave rug, so do also keep that in mind. The rug also sheds a little. I imagine this will subside after a few rounds with the vacuum, though. You can see a picture of the rug in my living room at: http://www***
I've had this one for awhile and it's a beautiful grey and ivory. It's very durable and is holding up really well in my dining room. My dogs love to sleep on it (and eat on it) and yet everything cleans up well and no evidence of "pet love" anywhere after several months of use. The only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars has more to do w/ my style than the rug itself. The Dhurrie is such a thin carpet, needs a pad and rug tape, and still it is just perpetually lumpy - I am not a shabby casual type person, and I tend to stick more to a clean and upholstered look so this one drives my OCD a bit crazy. Otherwise if you like this look, you will likely love this rug - the grey and ivory tones are gorgeous, the pattern is nice, and it holds up well.
This rug is a good value for the size and nice looking. It's very difficult to purchase a large rug (we bought the 10x14) without going over $1,000 or having it look cheap. This arrived quickly. Couple things to note. I must not have paid attention to the picture or knew what 'dhurrie' meant. This is a thin-ish, flat rug. Not poor quality, but the nature of a dhurrie type rug. It's not rough on the feet but it's definitely not plush - it has no nap. I would absolutely recommend getting a rug pad for comfort and to prevent slipping. This moves around a lot on wood floors. The chocolate color is very, very dark. Very pretty but darker than I was picturing. I liked it so much I bought the matching runner!
I waited for months for this item to come back in stock, but it was worth the wait. We purchased two runners for our stairs, and they look wonderful! We have received so many compliments, and people have even asked for the exact rug because they liked it so much. It's light and modern, but very elegant. The rug is a basic wool rug- not very thick nor soft, but exactly as expected. We used a foam pad, cut to size for each stair, for the padding underneath ,just a basic one. We used a staple gun to put the runner on, which was a pretty easy task.
We have this in our master bedroom in size 8x10. It's a great color and design, just wasn't expecting such a thin rug. We had previously bought a smaller Safavieh wool rug also in a Moroccan style for our guest room, and it was a normal, thick wool rug. This rug actually has the thickness of a wool blanket or something. They did recommend a rug pad in the description, but I didn't know it was absolutely necessary. Since we have wood floors, that is what we will do. It slides, and the corners easily get kicked up. I love the color and design, so we will keep it, just wish the description was a bit more specific on the thickness (or thinness!) of the rug.
This is a terrific option for an inexpensive, flat-weave dhurrie. We have cats so expensive rugs are not an option, but we wanted something to protect the most highly trafficked part of wood living room floor in a simple graphic print; this fit the bill perfectly. The colors are as shown (it's black with an ivory -- not white -- pattern). It's soft on the feet for a woven wool rug -- though if you're expecting the softness of a pile rug you might not like it. We have a coffee table on it which keeps it from sliding around, but if you don't have furniture on it you'll want a rug pad. Overall you really cant beat this one.
I love the look of flat-weave rugs and this one by Safavieh is no exception. The color is a rich dark chocolate and ivory. It adds the most wonderful pop to my dining room. With a good quality rug pad underneath, it has a wonderful feel underfoot. I have had several other flatweaves from Safavieh and they have all held up beautifully for many years. A stunning and durable rug!
We have had this about a year under our kitchen table. It has held up well to kids, dogs, and food. Dhurrie rugs are thin, tightly woven wool. They are not soft but can be easily swept clean. You can spot clean easily and wipe up spills with a cotton towel. With this particular rug, you need to be careful when cleaning though bc when I mopped up a spill once the towel came up with black dye. Because of this, it may not be the rug to put over wall to wall carpeting or take outside and hose off (although I have done this with other dhurrie rugs). There is no back on this rug so you are best to use it under a table or anchored by furniture, unless you are willing to deal with the headache of a rug pad....or using tape on the underside. Last, this rug is very versatile, but if you have a very traditional or formal decor you might find this to be to rustic.
The rug is beautiful quality. Classic dhurrie rug, tightly woven. Looks so much more expensive then it really is. Overstock has won me over with their dhurrie rugs, so nicely made and such fine color variations for a fraction of usual prices! Buy without reservation!
Love this rug. It's subtle color and timeless appearance make it a keeper. I placed a rug pad under it as one would assume. However the corners turn up a bit and had to place books to correct the issue for a while. But a minor issue as that solved the problem easily.
This is a great rug and pulls the room together perfectly. I have a "global glam" look in my family room, but the rug would be appropriate in many applications--modern, casual, transitional, etc. This is a wool flatweave rug, so it is not soft or thick. I personally like the feel under my feet, but it will not be for everyone. You will definitely need a good rug pad to keep the rug laying flat and in place on hardwood floors. Once I installed the rug on top of the rug pad, I was in love!
Description and picture reflect Very well the product. Very please with the quality and looks of the rug. Double sided feature also helpful down the line. Very satisfied with the purchase. Priced well for a wool / cotton non synthetic rug.
Great chocolate rug - dhurrie quality - not thick, but certainly not thin - a dhurrie weight. Color is pretty (as pictured). Adds value and style to the room I placed it in...I'd buy in other colors if needed for other areas. The entire Moroccan style blends well in most rooms that need a rug. I placed this in a country french linen bedroom - added depth. Fully like this rug.
Great rug...color is beautiful. Recommend to others.
Bought this for my daughter and when we FINALLY got it, it seems to be very popular as it was out of stock... she said it was worth waiting for..she was thrilled and she is very "picky", critical of poor quality issues, and she was "over the moon"...NO COMPLAINTS!!!!!!!!
Love it! Just what I needed; a rug with a low pile to place over carpet. It is a bit rough or "scratchy" but that is what I expected from a Dhurrie.
This rug was a good purchase. The color looks like the image on the website, however, I did not realize how thin the rug was until it was delivered to my home. Also the wool is very rough. I imagined that the rug would be softer and thicker (like other wool rugs I have purchased in the past). I purchased this rug for my living room so I decided to keep it (not much bare foot traffic in that room and the rug is mostly under the dining room table). I will have to buy a rug pad to keep the rug from slipping on my wood floor. Do not expect this rug to be plush--had I bought it for my living room where my children play I would have probably returned it. However, I get many compliments on this rug because the pattern is both modern and graphic.
This dhurrie was exactly what I expected. It was a great price, seems durable and is holding up to my rambunctious dogs. Cleans easily. I recommend a carpet pad.
Great looking rug. Good buy. Love Safavieh.
