The end result is an attractive piece for a tight powder room...BUT.. CONS… 1) Two holes for Allen bolts (screws) were missing. I made extra sure it wasn't my mistake in assembly. It wasn't that hard to drill the holes but I sure was nervous at first that I was making this worse. 2) What’s up with the lower back rail (brace)??? Anyone is going to use this behind a toilet, and who has either the space behind the toilet or the height in a bathroom to fit the fully assembled until over and behind the toilet? You have to ignore the instructions which have you attach this rail first, and either remove and reinstall it or put it on after you place the unit behind your toilet; then the access to the bolts is super tight if your toilet is near a wall on either side. 3) Most bathrooms have baseboards and even more trim if you have wood floors. This unit won't fit flush against the wall because there are no cutouts at the bottoms of the back legs. Cutting some out was too much for me so it stands a good bit from the wall, almost an inch. 4) There were no rubber feet to keep this from scratching a wood floor (I simply stuck on some). 5) The wall screws meant to anchor this against the wall are only long enough if the unit is flush to the wall. I will have to buy longer screws. You really need to do this as the unit is wobbly without anchoring. PROs... 1) Well, it looks very nice, much better than the metal ones or similarly priced pressed wood types. 2) Ample storage - It has an open shelf, two shelves behind sliding doors, and the top surface to use as another shelf. My powder room has a pedestal sink and no built in storage, so this works really well for my needs. The space is more than enough for extra guest supplies plus a few personal items. 3) Overstock’s price dropped drastically between purchase and it arriving. One call got the full difference refunded with no argument. 4) Despite Overstock’s longer standard potential shipping time, I ordered this on Monday and got it on Friday, with no shipping fees. 5) Despite instructions saying two people needed to assemble this, I did it on my own. I am happy with the final result, especially as I didn’t like any other units. I’m decorating around the bamboo using other exotic materials for a fun but sophisticated look.
Not a bad looking over-toilet unit. I like the sliding doors a lot. I have to tell you they cheat a little bit on the interior—the shelves inside the cabinet are not bamboo—they're pressboard with bamboo veneers. Note: your water valve needs to be completely above or below the lower cross bar on the back of this unit (see pic for details)—if it's not, be prepared to do some drilling, sanding or adding of riser feet on the legs of the unit.
Absolutely love it. Thanks to this cabinet, the bathroom is by far the only room in my house that's really complete. This is fabulous for small spaces like mine, but I think every bathroom can benefit from something like this. As long as you have a toilet, you have room for this kind of cabinet/shelving. It's not possible to install regular shelves above my toilet because the mirror extends along the whole wall (the previous owners just had a really awkward medicine cabinet on the opposite wall. They were constantly banging their heads on its corner). This is an excellent storage solution and it's actually quite handsome. Feels tropical. I suck at assembly, but this was simple, fast, and I didn't even injure myself (a remarkable acheivement). This is very sturdy, and I don't even have it screwed into the wall. It does come with supplies for wall mounting, but remember that it won't do you any good if you have a baseboard. Because the legs have to be so tall in order for it to fit over the toilet, be forewarned that there will always be a bit of a wobble to it--but that's true of every single piece like this. It's been successfully minimized here because of the choice of material.
I bought two of these space savers. They fit over my toilets perfectly in the corner. The storage space is handy for small bathrooms. I like the bamboo design.
I was surprised - wood quality is very, very nice. Fits together well (took me 90 to assemble, but good instructions) . Sturdy, roomy, looks great. Great value for the price! My only wish is that they would supply plugs for the screw holes.
Looks great -which is good because it's one of the more expensive options. Matches other bamboo items, like the bench I also got from overstock. I assembled it by myself with no problem. The first one took more time, the second one was up in twenty minutes. Maybe an hour and fifteen minutes assembly time max. I think it was less. Wobbles when you slide the doors if not attached to a wall. Look at the measurements, it is not that deep. That's what I wanted but if you want to store towels in it without rolling them, it won't suit you. I used one over my portable washing machine. thought I would have to forgo the shelf but my lid folds down so it works with the shelf. Measure the distance from the water thing behind the toilet and remember to add the width of the board. I am only able to use one screw on each side because I didn't think to do that. I am super happy with these, my bathroom looks great! When I try to rotate the photos the site freezes, so I'm leaving them sideways.
This space saver was just what I was looking for! I have a small bathroom and really needed more space. It was so easy to assemble and fit perfectly. The bamboo wood matched the beach theme decor too.
This was a bit more than I really wanted to pay for one of these space savers, but the price dropped and it was the only one I found that I really liked so I went for it. I'm very happy with it. It is a lot bigger than I expected, though, so look at those measurements carefully! Even though I read them, it's still bigger in the space than I imagined. But after a few days I've gotten used to it. The storage it provides is great. The top is a nice size and you could easily put bins up there with towels or whatever. Another nice feature I wasn't expecting was that there are two doors that slide. I thought it was only one door and an opening, like in the photo. (Somehow I missed this in the description I guess.) It was pretty easy to put together, mostly hex screws so if you've put together any IKEA furniture, this will be very easy. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because there were a couple of small places where there were some bamboo splinters, and one found its way into my skin. The wood was in good condition, it was just a couple of small areas on edges. So just be careful when you handle the pieces and watch for those. The only other problem is that the design doesn't take the baseboard into consideration, so it stands a few inches out from the wall in my bathroom. I live in Los Angeles so leaving it free standing isn't an option. I can find another way to attach it, that just means drilling at least one hole in the top which I would have liked to avoid. It comes with holes pre-drilled for attaching it to the wall, but mine is just too far away to attach in that manner.
Beautiful design. Provides storage space for my small guest bathroom.
This is a well made product that fits exactly over our toilet. We love the natural yet clean look and the doors slide open and shut with ease. The shelf on the bottom is perfect for a candle or a few books while the doors cover all the toiletry needs one usually wants to keep hidden.
This bamboo space saver is very sturdy and is a lovely addition to my bathroom, I purchased the shelf and hamper ❤️
I love the look and feel of this bamboo over-the-toilet cabinet. It is light and not clunky and fit right in my very small toilet only bathroom. The sink is right outside the bathroom so it was convenient to have a storage spot for toilet paper as well as cleaning items.
I would recommend this bamboo space saver to everybody! This product is perfect. It was easy to put together and does not get in the way of anything. I am very happy with this purchase.
This Bamboo Space Saver is beautifully designed yet it is poorly made... I ordered this space saver and the first one was broken straight out of the box... Overstock sent me a second one and it was broken as well... So I never even got a chance to actually see it assembled... That's why I graded it so poorly...
I really like the looks of this cabinet. I wanted it to match a light oak woodwork that I have in the bathroom and it does. The main thing that I wished it had and doesn't, are finishing plugs where the screws are screwed in. This went together pretty well, but I had to build it in the bathroom and for me it was tight around the toilet. Directions are good, it took about and hour to put together. All in all a good purchase.
Bought 4 years ago for my renters. They have 2 kids and use this item a lot, it's fully loaded. I'm happy to report that it's still in perfect condition! The bamboo holds up well, absolutely no splintering at all. The finish is still perfect, the shelve doors open easily. It was simple to assemble. Highly recommended product.
This space saver surpassed my expectations. It is elegant and beautiful and functional. I looked everywhere before I went online and found this spacesaver and nothing else comes close for the price. My husband said it was easy to assemble and it provided plenty of space for items we needed to store in the bathroom. Buy it, you'll be pleased!
Easy to built, nice looking, I'm very happy with this item. will recommend this to my friend.
I'm pretty happy about this purchase. The finished piece looks very nice, except that the pre-drilled holes - when used per the instructions - are not perfectly drilled, so the pieces do not all line up perfectly at the end of assembly. As noted in another review, it would have been nice to have screw covers, too. However, all in all, it's a natural-look piece, being bamboo, so I don't think that these two things really detract that much from its attractiveness that much.
This is a very nice piece of furniture, great color, a great alternative to the white particle board type. Very good quality. One bad thing: one front leg is about 1/2 inch shorter than the others. It seems secure once attached to the wall but I still have a piece of folded cardboard under it. I really like the look and the sliding doors are nice. The open shelf is quite a ways above the toilet so you are still able to put things on the toilet tank lid.
